After 2003, this is the first year that visarjan has continued all night and until the next morning. Police loudspeakers at deafening volumes were mis used to issue continuous commentary at Girgaon under the guise of keeping law and order. In all previous years, this was managed through smaller directed police loudspeakers instead of a large central one. In previous years, visarjan stopped at 12 midnight or 10pm as appropriate, and police loudspeakers stopped at the same time.
The difference between noise levels in the jurisdictions of various Police Stations was marked. For instance, Shivaji Park and Juhu visarjan points did not use loudspeakers while Girgaon did. The processions were noisy in the jurisdiction of Santacruz Police Station and quiet in Juhu Police Station jurisdiction, etc.
Many of the smaller processions were quiet and did not use loudspeakers with the exception of large idols carried on trucks playing loud popular music.
